114 Days to Book Launch – March 19, 2016
When John Kremer talks about creating a book list he says that specialization is one of the prime ways to book-selling success. Becoming an “authority” on one topic will have far greater impact and influence in reaching an audience when starting out.
I think specializing is also important in how we market our books. It is very tempting when trying to grow an audience to try and do a whole bunch of things to attract attention. Unfortunately we only have so much time and energy in each day and the more we dissipate that energy the less impression we make anywhere.
I find this especially true with doing Social Media. Right now I am concentrating on Twitter. I am pretty sure a large segment of my target audience is on Facebook and Pinterest and that I should invest time and energy there. But for now I am still learning the ins and outs with growing a Twitter fan base. So until I feel I actually know what I am doing with Twitter and give it a solid chance to see if it can be a viable way for me to reach a good audience this is where I will stay for a bit.
I do have a Facebook and Pinterest presence but they need a lot of work. I’m thinking the only way that I can see my Facebook audience grow is if I do advertising. And if I want to have a stronger presence on Pinterest I need to invest a lot more time creating pins, pinning and following others.
So for the rest of this month at any rate I’m staying with Twitter. I am using ManageFlitter and starting to see some results once I figured out how to use the Power Mode feature. You can see above on my stats that I had a jump of 48 new followers and that is because of that. It won’t be like that every day but at least I am moving forward. The thing with growing an audience is that its a slow and steady progress. Some things work and some don’t.
I just try to keep going and doing this daily blog is helping me with that. The old persistence thing.
