110 Days to Book Launch – March 19, 2016
This quote is really hard. Maybe it gets easier, but in the beginning when you are working on your book it’s hard to justify the time it takes to “sell” the book.
Sometimes (like today) I feel like tearing my hair or jumping out the window. Building a platform is painfully slow. I know I can’t wait till the book is done to put the marketing pieces together but I also need to work on the book so that I actually have something to sell.
I am sure there is a quote somewhere that says it ALWAYS takes at least as TWICE as long to do something as you think it will. Today I have been working on this blog for two weeks. The results of those two weeks is painfully, embarrassingly low.
I have gained 141 new Twitter followers, 1 Facebook page follower and 2 email list subscribers. I have written 14 blog posts and created 14 Twitter and Pinterest images. I have followed people on Twitter, tweeted and commented a few times. It seems like I am doing a lot but perhaps in reality I am spinning my wheels more than actually moving forward.
Maybe this whole year will be a stark look at the futility of all my efforts! Maybe what this blog will really tell me is that I need to get a day job.
Oh well. Two weeks is not really such a long time and I actually have done quite a few things just to get started that have taken time. Like building this web site, starting a Facebook page (not a profile page) and other things that don’t come to mind but I’m sure have gobbled up my time and energy.
I have found some amazing links on GoodReads of places to market the book and I have added a few names to my 100 Kramer list. I need to remain positive. Yes, I do.
