I am starting to enter into the panic mode for having a successful book launch. It’s sort of like I have dumped out a 1000 piece puzzle on the table. I see all the pieces but not sure how to get them all connected.
I just read an article that said to get book reviews one should start sending out ARC’s (advance reading copies) 6 – 8 months before the date of publication. Sooo – like — I don’t even have the book yet and won’t even have a rough copy for three more weeks. And that will mean I will only have about six weeks before the date of publication.
So what it all means is that I am just going to do the best I can and start working on book number two and book launch number two. It’s not going to be a best seller, it may not sell a hundred copies but it will get done. That’s my goal at this point. Git er done.
I made a list today of 18 friends and family members that I can hopefully persuade to read my book and give a review. Now I am on a quest to find new friends that might be open to receiving an advance review copy and leave a review on Amazon. I mentioned in another post that to make a blip on the Amazon radar one needs at least 25 book reviews during the first week so that’s my mini goal – get those first 25 reviews.
The reviews do not have to be 5 star – they can even be (horror of horrors) one star. Honest reviews are what matters. Perhaps I will learn how to make a better book the next time if they are all bad! Provided I don’t drown myself first of course.
A while back I found a page an author did that allowed readers to sign up for an Advance Review copy. I thought at the time that was a great idea – and that is my goal for tomorrow.
Now my goal is to start on dinner. It’s Taco night and I need to get chopping!
