Another catch up day. What I did mostly on Monday was correct all the proofs that my proofer (my sister Barb) found. She found a lot – so I was kept quite busy.
I shared with Barb how much she saved me by “gifting” her proofing services. She did a line by line editing which typically runs between $.02 to $.14 a word. My manuscript was 34,000+ words which meant it would have cost me almost $700 to $4,500.
She has also offered to reproof again as I made the changes and rewrote the ending which we both agreed (after her proofing) did not work very well.
Which goes to show that one can get by “with a little help from one’s friends.”
Another friend sent me a link for a Children’s Book Writing Event on the Oregon Coast this summer that I would totally love to go for – but it costs $869 plus lodging. Dang. Always something to wish for and find a cheaper work-a-round for. Like staying home and putting a picture of the beach in front of me while I read a book on writing for children. Not nearly as much fun but you do what you got to do.
I will find a way to get to the beach though this year. Hopefully lots. Just won’t be a book writing trip. If anyone who reads this does plan on going to this event would surely love to hear about it. Maybe someday I will go!
