Friday was a pretty good day for seeing some progress being made. I got the final bits and pieces done for the CreateSpace submission and hit the button to send it on its way for approval. With Amazon the content isn’t so important as much as just getting all the technical parts correct. Which of course is why you can have some pretty crummy books published this way. Hopefully mine won’t be classed as one of those!
I sent out a post from my book site and asked a second time for volunteers to receive an ARC (Advance Reader Copy) for my book. I shared the back cover copy and included a cute picture of Max one of the puppies in the book. As I write this on Saturday I now have 22 volunteers! That is very exciting. I will continue to push for 25 to 100.
I bought another book on Book Marketing – probably have about 25 by now. But they give me new ideas and keep me motivated. This book, How You Can Sell More Books is by Brian Rathbone who is a fantasy author for young adult and I expect all other ages as well (like me, age 59). I found Brian through Twitter and he is my favorite author to read and follow. I watch everything he does and try to figure out how I can do the same. He is a great writer who really “gets” social media especially with Twitter. He has over 140k followers and the reason is because not only is he an awesome writer he is warm, friendly and funny. I always appreciate funny. He capitalizes on writing “Dragon jokes.” Hard to describe how he does it – you will just have to check him out for yourself on @BrianRathbone.
Here is a nice quote from Brian’s book. “The most important elements of my success has been persistence and self-belief.” But the book is not just motivational it is full of practical stuff of what he did to sell books. Includes links, explanations, and for $3.49 (Kindle version) was a no brained buy even for me on my super skinny budget. P.S. this is not an affiliate link or anything I just like the book and wanted to share it.
