Worked some on editing the book. Mostly played catch-up with this blog and here it is a new day and will have to play catch up again. Seems to be part of my DNA I guess.
I found a contest that I am going to enter after the book is finished. The Wishing Shelf Book Awards It is open to Indie publishers and I am hoping my book may have a chance there. The one thing that is different about this contest though is that even if you don’t win a prize you do get a review for your book. So seems a no brainer winner for me!
The downside is that the books are not judged until the end of the year. But I found that they also offer a book review service for $75. Compared to Kirkus $475 which I of course would love but can’t afford this seems like a reasonable alternative. I signed up for it and once I submit my book should get the review back in 10-14 days. They promise a catchy one-liner sentence as well as a 300-400 in depth review that can be used for promotional purposes.
I think it is important to get an outside review of the book so feel this is a very positive move.
